Terms of service
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you (the workshop signing up, and the person who creates the account on its behalf) and Blake Ryan Howse, a sole trader based in New Zealand, trading as Shop Follow-Up (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Shop Follow-Up you agree to them.
1. The service
Shop Follow-Up is online software for vehicle workshops. It records visits and problems found, sends reminder emails to your customers, and keeps a booking diary. We may improve or change features over time. If we remove a major feature you pay for, we’ll tell you in advance.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms for your business.
- Give us accurate details, and keep your password private. You’re responsible for what happens under your account and your staff logins.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone has got into your account.
3. Free trial
New workshops get 30 days free. No card is needed. If you haven’t added payment details by the end of the trial, your account is paused (your records are kept) until you subscribe. We may extend a trial at our discretion. One free trial per workshop.
4. Prices and payment
- After the trial you pay a monthly subscription based on the number of vehicle bays you tell us your workshop has. Current prices are on our pricing page. Prices are in New Zealand dollars.
- Payments are taken by card through our payment provider, Stripe, monthly in advance. We don’t see or store your full card details.
- The number of bays you set must match your workshop. If it changes, update it on the Plan & billing page; the difference is reflected on your next bill.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it over the following days. If it still can’t be collected, your account is paused until payment is made.
- We may change our prices by giving you at least 30 days’ notice by email. The new price applies from your next billing date after the notice period. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then.
- Workshops with more than 30 bays are priced by agreement, and the agreed price applies in place of the price list.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from the Plan & billing page. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you won’t be charged again. We don’t give refunds for part-months, except where the law requires it.
6. Your data
- The information you put into Shop Follow-Up, including your customers’ details, belongs to you. We hold and use it only to provide the service to you, as set out in our privacy policy.
- You can delete individual customers at any time. To get a copy of your data, or to have your whole account deleted, email us.
- After an account is cancelled or paused, we keep its data for 90 days so you can come back, then we may delete it. Backups are cleared on a rolling basis after that.
7. Your responsibilities
- Consent to email. Reminder emails are commercial electronic messages under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. You must only record a customer as agreeing to be contacted when they actually have (for example, by ticking the box on the intake sheet), and you must not import or enter email addresses you don’t have permission to use.
- Privacy. You are responsible for collecting your customers’ information lawfully under the Privacy Act 2020, and for telling them how you’ll use it.
- Accurate content. You’re responsible for what your reminders say, including any prices or safety advice.
- Fair use. Don’t use Shop Follow-Up to send spam, to break the law, to try to access other workshops’ data, or to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service. Don’t resell it without our agreement.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
8. Availability
We work to keep Shop Follow-Up running and your data backed up, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to take it offline briefly for maintenance. Email delivery depends on third parties and on your customers’ email providers, so we can’t guarantee every email arrives.
9. Business use
Shop Follow-Up is supplied for business purposes. You agree that, to the extent the law allows, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, and that sections 9, 12A, 13 and 14(1) of the Fair Trading Act 1986 do not apply, because we are both in trade and it is fair and reasonable for these terms to apply.
10. Liability
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, business or data.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to Shop Follow-Up is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.
- You agree to cover our reasonable losses if a claim is made against us because you broke these terms or the law (for example, by emailing people who didn’t consent).
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by cancelling. We may end the agreement with 30 days’ notice by email, or straight away if you seriously break these terms. If we end it without you having broken the terms, we’ll refund any amount you’ve paid for time after the end date.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Shop Follow-Up after that means you accept the new terms.
13. General
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction. If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a right straight away doesn’t mean we’ve given it up.
